Medicines Alerts

We are reaching out to keep you informed about a recent update concerning the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccine.

As part of ongoing safety monitoring, health authorities have observed a very rare potential association between RSV vaccination and Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), a neurological condition that can cause temporary muscle weakness or, in rare cases, more serious complications. It’s important to note that the risk appears to be extremely low, and no direct cause-and-effect relationship has been confirmed.

Your safety is our highest priority. The RSV vaccine continues to be recommended for eligible individuals, particularly older adults and those with underlying health conditions, as it offers strong protection against serious illness caused by RSV.

We encourage you to:

  • Monitor your health in the weeks following vaccination.
  • Contact us if you experience unusual symptoms such as weakness, tingling sensations, or difficulty walking.

Please contact the surgery if you have any of these symptoms within the 6 week period following your RSV vaccination.
